Schools of the Future

Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the biggest single British government investment in improving school buildings for over 50 years. During a ten year period an investment of 47Bn will be made into rebuilding and remodelling schools. We’re involved.
Our team has experience at all levels of BSF from working with children and teachers to help identify what could be possible in their new school, to schools and authorities to help identify a clear vision for the use of ICT in learning. We work with bid teams and consultants in all aspects of technology and learning within BSF.
We also work with individual schools and colleges who are not part of BSF but who want to embrace the opportunities for learning and want to redesign spaces (both physical and virtual). We know that every child is different, every school is different and one size does not fit all. We specialise in working with learners, staff, decision makers, construction teams and the community to vision and build the right model, together.
We find ourselves:
- Writing and reviewing - BSF bidding teams need our help and support on what makes effective learning with ICT, and policy makers need our input to make sure their feet are on the ground when it comes to what is possible in a setting.
- Advising - about integrating computer techology in learning and where it might lead to, particularly with schools and local authorities but also with bidding teams.
- Evaluting - systems and processes that are in place in schools and unpicking the reasons for keeping them or refreshing them.
- Visioning - Where learning will go, what opportunities there are and helping schools and authorities articulate what they want learners to be able to do in the future.
The learner is at the heart of all we do.
Our involvement aims to ensure there are better decisions for school design, better buildings created and the right technology in place to support and enhance learning.
Most important, we’ve seen, and worked at, schools from all around the world - as far away as New Zealand where some pretty innovative stuff is going on, and Thailand who are really thinking about how learning can be improved. Our team has been involved in both BSF and privately funded learning design projects, are members of working groups and have undertaken advisory roles in Newham, Durham, Kent, Essex, Barnesley and Norwich throughout 2007.
We are always pleased to have the opportunity to present our work at conferences, and frequently speak at events throughout the UK to help people understand the way technology can be most effectively embedded in the learning and in the buildings.
